Nedap Retail Support dealer, Omnisint in Milan (Italy) and Auchan SpA - one of the leading GDO chains in the world - agreed a collaboration to equip Auchan hypermarkets with Nedap Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) integrated solutions. Stores in Monza, Brindisi Mesagne, Bari Modugno, Padova, Antegnate and Mestre have already been equipped with Nedap antennas, integrated with EASi/Net management information services. Also, Auchan will use Nedap's extensive online remote service option.

In September 2008, 1 new hypermarket in Monza has been equipped with Nedap EAS solutions providing "best in class security" and integrated customer counting. This initial trial in the Monza store proved successful - based on management by conversion -, leading to the decision to extend the collaboration with Nedap estate-wide. During the next months another 5 stores in southern and northern Italy have been re-equipped with Nedap systems as well. In range of the technological shift from AM to RF scheduled for all Auchan hypermarkets.

Auchan chose Nedap for its unique, customer specific EASi/Net management information, the possibility to customize antennas with advertising posters and different colours, and the capability to integrate metal detection and customer counting into Nedap EAS antennas. Besides, Nedap will support Auchan in developing the self-scanning system, a service that enables the store to manage check-outs automatically without staff support.
